130428 Is Hyuna Too Sexy For Her Shirt?

4minute has just released the music video for their newest single, “What’s Your Name,” and viewers are up in arms about Hyuna’s overtly sexy moves and outfits. While most netizens, probably all the men, thought the member looked sexy, others complained that her getup was borderline trashy and to be frank, I’m quite confused about the controversy.

Throughout her career, Hyuna has always pushed the sexual boundaries. Whether it was her suggestive dance moves or blush-worthy short shorts, the singer has never been one for keeping her look or her ways PG.

In Hyuna’s first solo debut single, “Change,” the singer sent shock waves across the web with her infamous “pelvic thrust” dance move where she literally thrusts her way throughout the entire music video. Dressed in a revealing corset top and jeans, Hyuna has a scene where she scandalously shakes what her mama gave her in the rain.

Moving on to Hyuna’s second single, “Bubble Pop!” where the singer both shocked and pleased fans with her way-too-sexy dresses and booty shorts. This music video in particular got her boiling in some controversial heat. Many were outraged by her promiscuous dance moves and unnecessary amounts of cleavage and while I personally remember being taken aback by how much this young lady was shaking around her goods, I was also not surprised by it. The fact is, is that Hyuna is a sex symbol and she will continue to be one as long as the people want her to stay as one.

The Korean entertainment industry fully understands that sex sells and while I do agree that we would be a better world without all the commercialization of sex around us, as an audience we can’t be angry at the artists who provide what the mass demands and wants to see, which is sex, sex, and more sex.

The cold-hearted truth for unapproving or conservative viewers is that Hyuna will continue to put out sexier and controversial material. No matter what the public says or no matter how many times Korea’s Broadcasting and Communications Review Committee tries to ban her videos, the point of the matter is, is that she gets noticed, and being noticed translates into money and money is the one and only goal for everyone in the industry. As sad as it is, at the end of the day, it’s all about the Benjamins.
