130502 HyunA Picked As Number One Cosplay-Dol

Well it looks like there is no end to the different names that idols have. Just when you thought you had heard them all, (Beast-dol, Sexy-dol, Varietyshow-dol, MC-dol, Actor-dol, CF-dol, and etc.) a new one is added! Recently on the May 1 broadcast ofMBC Everyone’s show “Weekly Idol,” 4minute’s HyunA was chosen as the #1 “Cosplay-dol.”

In case you did not know, cosplay is a shortened version of “Costume Play.” Cosplay (As in people dressing up in costumes) is often seen in Japanese or U.S. events such as comicon or video game conferences.

HyunA said of her being #1, “I think that the HyunA I show on stage is very different from what I am like every day. I think my every day personality is what shocks the populace.” At that MC Jung Hyung Don stated, “The HyunA I know is very cute.”

Other idols that were chosen as “Cosplay-dols” were Infinite’s L, SHINee’s Taemin,miss A’s Suzy, and Teen Top’s L.Joe.

The girl groups are back to heat up the K-Pop competition, so naturally, we’re throwing them into the ring in this week’s K-Pop Battle.

Secret and 4minute will go head to head this week, and the girls are already proving to be sassier than ever.

In fact, Secret has already thrown the first punch in the battle, claiming its new song is better than 4minute’s latest single, but we’re leaving it up to you to decide.

Secret returned this week with new single Yoo Hoo, and the girls have set out to wash away our winter blues for good.

The girls held a showcase on April 30 to celebrate the release of its fourth mini album Letter From Secret, where they charmed reporters with bright smiles and cute poses to match their easy breezy summer-appropriate concept.

But don’t let their sugary sweet concept fool you, as Secret has shown they’re ready to take on their girl group competition.

If Secret’s Yoo Hoo is a subtle shout out to the boys, 4minute is taking names and numbers.

After taking on solo and unit group activities, the 4minute girls have regrouped, and they have returned with the bold What’s Your Name.

From the catchy chorus to the blindingly bright outfits, the song is reminiscent of 4minute’s debut single Hot Issue, but rookies they are definitely not.

‘Weekend Idol’ HyunA Wins ‘Sexiest But Opposite in Real Life’

On May 1, 4minute’s HyunA was selected the sexiest celebrity on MBC’s variety show, “Weekly Idol.” From her well-established image as a sexy star in the music video of “Gangnam Style” and the recent comeback album, the selection is no surprise to the public. Her friends and acquaintances, however, say she is very different off-air and off-stage.

Hyun A’s actual personality and demeanor are reported to be far from that of a sexy female celebrity. She is extremely humorous, loves to joke around and is down to earth. Many who have carried a conversation with her have commented on her unadorned and innocent speech and personality. Hyun A stated that “I am very different when I go on stage. So people are always very shocked by the kind of person I am when I am not doing performances.”

Comedian Jung Hyung Don, who is a good friend of Hyun A’s, said that “Hyun A has a very cute personality. Of course, she becomes a different person on stage and her capabilities as a performer is amazing. But as far as her usual self is concerned, she is cute. She has probably had that cute thing going all her life.”



INFINITE L came in second place with his chic image. Other members of INFINITE revealed that there is a huge discrepancy between INFINITE L the artist and Myung Soo, his legal name. SHINee’s Taemin received third most votes, followed by miss A’s Suzy and Teen Top’s El Joe.
